Bear Cat is mostly known for their chainsaws, but they also make other tree care products, including commercial chipper shredders. The new CH1015H is their biggest model yet, capable of shredding branches and trunks up to 10 inches wide.
Power
The CH1015H has a dynamically balanced 32 inch diameter rotor that is 1 ¼ inches thick. This rotor weights 308 lbs, giving it the inertia to maintain speed during chipping. The rotor has a series of reversible, offset chipper blades.
A triple banded belt drive works together with hydrostatic feed control, letting the operator get the exact speed they want for any size of debris. Powering this beast is a 1.5 liter, 57 HP Kubota gas engine with an electric starter. There’s a 20 gallon fuel tank on board to keep this machine running all day.
Cutting and Loading
Debris enter a foldable 31 x 21 inch chute opening. The opening to the rotor is 10 by 10 inches wide. If it fits through this square hole, the CH1015H can cut it. Stop bars on the top and bottom of the chute let the operator shut off the chipper from almost any position.
The CH1015H comes with a 360 degree rotating chute with a built-in deflector, so it can dump debris into just about any truck or trailer.
Maintenance
Maintenance is simple for such a large machine. There are four greasable bearings, which are accessed from the outside of the housing for easy service. A digital display controller shows the rotor RPM, and it can show maintenance reminders and error codes for troubleshooting. There are only two bolts to remove to access rotor housing. Built-in steps make it easy to access both the engine and back of the rotor housing.
A Trailer with Every Feature You Need
The CH1015H is mounted on a trailer with a 2 inch ball and an adjustable tongue, so it can be pulled by most trucks. It uses a 7 pin connector to control the lighting and electric brakes. The trailer has the axles, wheels and lighting required to make it highway ready. It also comes with built-in safety cone storage, as well as integrated tool storage for rakes and other tools.
