Shindaiwa Chainsaws Overview

s-l1000If you’re looking for a new chainsaw, it’s hard to beat a Shindaiwa. Which one is right for you, though? With 7 models available, there’s something to fit your needs, whether you just need to do some work around your home or you cut trees professionally.

Why Shindaiwa?

Shindaiwa has built a reputation for building top quality equipment, offering some of the most reliable two-stroke motors on the market. Although their chainsaw range has something to offer for everyone from homeowners to professional arborists, they’re all built with the same state-of-the-art features, and they’re all backed by the same warranty covering 1 year of commercial use and 5 years of residential use.

305s

The 30.5 cc commercial grade two-stroke in this chainsaw is equipped with Shindaiwa’s i-30 starting system. It uses a secondary spring that releases at the top of the engine’s compression stroke to help kick it over, making it easier to start. An automatic clutch-driven oiler, side access chain tensioner, and tool-less air filter cover make maintenance easy.

This model weighs 8.8 lbs. without the bar and chain. It’s compatible with 14 and 16-inch bars.

340s

This chainsaw has the same features as the 305s, but it uses a more powerful 34 cc engine. It’s available only with a 16-inch bar. It weighs 8.8 lbs.

358Ts

Designed for arborists needing power in a compact package, this chainsaw has a 35.8 cc engine and can be used with a 14 or 16-inch bar. A large palm rest provides added leverage and comfort. The small profile also keeps weight down to just 8 lbs.

402s

This model’s 40.2 cc engine provides more power, but this chainsaw also has features that make it easier to use. An automotive style air filter connected to a G-Force engine air pre-cleaner reduces the need for filter maintenance, while the oiling system can be adjusted to match cutting conditions. This saw can use a 16 or 18-inch bar and weighs 10.1 lbs.

491s

The 50.2 cc engine, dual post chain brake, and G-Force pre-cleaner may make this chainsaw sound heavy, but a magnesium crankcase means this model tips the scales at just 10.6 lbs. It’s compatible with 16, 18 and 20-inch bars.

591

The 59.8 cc engine has a decompression valve for easy starting, while a translucent gas tank makes it easy to check the fuel level. It weights 13.2 lbs. and is compatible with 18, 20 and 24-inch bars.

600sx

Shindaiwa’s top model has all the features of the 591, adding dual bumper spikes for increased cutting control. It weighs 13.7 lbs. and can use 20, 24 and 27-inch bars.
