Midmount Z Overview

wright-z-3-4-right2Wright may be known for their standing mowers, but they also use their signature design to build some of the most advanced ZTR commercial mowers on the market. The Midmount Z Series combines a compact, lightweight frame with heavy duty components to provide impressive maneuverability and performance while reducing turf damage and delivering a top quality finish.

The Benefits of the Z

Z’s use Wright’s Aero Core deck, a constructed design that has air-tapered surfaces added to the inside so it performs like a stamped deck. That means high airflow, a uniform cut and minimal clumping without sacrificing deck strength. Anti-scalp rollers are included for an even cut on rough terrain, and a folding ROPS protects the operator without getting in the way when loading the mower onto a trailer.

Wright covers their mowers with a two year warranty that includes parts and labor.

There are two models of Midmount Zs: the MMZ and the ZTO.

MMZ

300 lbs. lighter and three inches shorter than the industry standard, these mowers are more maneuverable and easier on turf than the competition. The belt drive, pumps, engine, and seat also sit lower, lowering the center of gravity for greater stability on hills, while recessed caster wheels decrease the turning radius without limiting the size of the deck. Need to bag? The mower remains lightweight thanks to adjustable rear wheels. By moving them out for more leverage, the mower stays balanced when using a clipping collection system, eliminating the need for ballast weights.

Most mowers in this class use 10 or 12 cc hydraulic pumps, but Wright went for 16 cc Hydro-Gear units to run faster and cooler, increasing power and extending the service life.

Wright’s mid-mount Z’s are available with 25.5 and 27 HP Kawasaki FX engines and 48, 52, and 61 inch decks. No matter which engine you choose, the 13.5 gallon fuel tank can keep this mower running for extended periods.

ZTO

The ZTO comes with all the features of an MMZ, plus a few additions to make it an even better commercial mower.

The ZTO’s wheels are driven by a Hydro-Gear ZT-3400 series transaxle. This commercial-grade unit is rated to handle up to 500 lb-ft. of torque and has an external filter for easy service and built-in shock valves for added durability. It can propel the ZTO to a top speed of 10.5 mph. An undercarriage cage protects the transmission and filters from impacts, while an integrated parking brake engages automatically when the lap bars are opened.

Wright offers this mower with a choice of Kawasaki FX and Briggs & Stratton motors with 22, 23.5, or 25 hp fitted with a 48, 52, or 61 inch deck. Fuel capacity is 14.5 gallons for less frequent fill-ups.
