Dixon Zero Turn Mowers – DX100 – DX152, DX161 Overview

Announcement (February 2023)

Dixon equipment and parts are no longer available from Shank’s Lawn Equipment.

In 2014, Husqvarna Group, Dixon’s parent company, announced that they would no longer be distributing Dixon products. Since then, the availability of Dixon replacement parts has steadily diminished.

Shank’s Lawn Equipment, a long-time Dixon dealer and a leading source for Dixon parts, will no longer be selling parts for Dixon.

Dixon DX

Looking to buy a ZTR? Why not go with Dixon, the inventor of the Zero Turning Radius mower? They may have created the segment, but that doesn’t mean they’re out of reach. Dixon’s DX100 Series mowers are designed to be affordable without cutting corners on features. That means commercial quality engines and hydraulics, durable components and easy to use controls at a size and price that puts them within reach of residential and small commercial buyers.

Power

These mowers are powered by a Kawasaki FX series engine. It uses a large capacity canister-style air filter with multiple filtration stages for improved flow, better engine protection, and longer maintenance intervals. An integrated oil cooler and a heavy duty steel guard over the fan further ensure durability.

Speed

Engine power is sent to the wheels via a Hydro-Gear ZT 3400 transmission which uses a fan-cooled 12-cubic centimeter pump to send fluid through the hydraulic system. This lets the DX 100 move at speeds up to 10 mph when going forward and up to 5 mph in reverse.

Cutting Performance

The DX 100 uses a flat-sided fabricated deck made from 11 gauge steel, keeping the overall profile compact. Anti-scalp wheels come standard. It cuts using three blades mounted on tapered roller bearings inside greaseable aluminum spindles. Deck height is controlled by a foot lever so your hands can stay on the controls. It can be set to one of 12 height settings ranging from 1.5-5 inches.

The deck can be set up to mulch, collect clippings, or send them through the side discharge. The three-bag collector can hold up to 9 bushels, and it’s designed to be installed or removed in a matter of minutes.

Comfort and Ease of Use

Operator comfort is taken into account with a large foot pan and bars along with a seat with a contoured backrest. Dampers on the lap bars provide steady engagement for smooth, easy control, and they’re adjustable to fit the operator’s preferences. A foldable ROPS reduces total height for storage.

Durability and Maintenance

Components are mounted on a heavy duty welded tube frame. The layout is built with maintenance in mind with easy access to filters, electronic components, and the oil drain. Belts, pulleys, and spindles on the deck can be accessed by removing the foot pan.

Dixon guarantees these mowers with a two-year warranty for commercial use, while Kawasaki guarantees the engine with a three-year warranty.

Two Models to Fit Your Needs

There are two mowers in this series: the DX 152 and the DX 161. The DX 152 comes with a 22 hp engine and a 52-inch deck. It can mow up to 4.2 acres per hour. The DX 161 comes with a 23.5 hp engine and a 61-inch deck. It can mow up to 4.9 acres per hour.
