Bear Cat Chipper Overview

thumbDo you need a commercial quality chipper? Do you want something that’s towable, easy to use, and easy to maintain? ECHO Bear Cat makes a range of high quality devices that will fit your needs, whether you want to clean up a small acreage or you need something that can be used for commercial tree service.

CH4400 4 Inch Chipper

The smallest model in Bear Cat’s lineup, the CH4400 is ideal for someone who owns a small acreage or needs an easy-to-use device for rentals.

A 404cc Subaru EX series engine spins a 49 lb. disc equipped with a pair of oversized heat-treated chipping blades. Linked together by a heavy duty double-banded belt for maximum power transfer, the motor can spin the rotor at speeds up to 3,000 rpm.

The disc is cantilever-mounted, which helps prevent material wrapping when chipping stringy, sappy, or wet wood. A four-sided adjustable anvil ensures reliable cutting performance no matter the type of wood being chopped.

CH5653 5 Inch Chipper

This chipper is designed with landscapers in mind. It uses a 653cc Subaru EH Series engine to spin a 140 lb. chipper disc that uses four reversible chipping blades to strike against an adjustable four-sided anvil.

This chipper is mounted on a trailer that is built for highway towing.
It has a built-in flip-up jack stand to balance the machine during operation, and the discharge chute can be rotated to aim outgoing chips exactly where you want them. The CH5653 is also available in a CE-compliant version.

CH611DH 6 Inch Chipper

This model comes with a complete hydraulically-operated auto-feed system that automatically retries feeding limbs. The 15 inch diameter feed roller pushes limbs into a 165 lb. disc. That disc is driven by a 1.1 liter Kubota diesel engine via a triple-banded belt.

Towing is easy thanks to a telescopic tongue, torsion axle suspension, and adjustable rear stabilizer.

CH6720H 6 Inch Chipper

Want the capabilities of the 611DH, but prefer the lower cost and easier starting of a gas engine? The CH6720H has all the same features, but it’s powered by a 720cc fuel injected Subaru engine. Since this motor doesn’t have as much torque, the auto feed system is designed to pause when the disc RPM drops below a certain threshold. Once the engine has time to bring the speed back up, it resumes feeding.

CH8993H 8 Inch Chipper

This chipper is mounted on a rotating base, letting you spin the entire unit into position on the trailer to have the discharge and feed chutes exactly where you need them. The hydraulic system and belts are covered by a door that opens easily for maintenance access.

The CH8993H uses a 993cc Briggs & Stratton Vanguard gas engine to drive a 275 lb. rotor with four blades.

CH8720iH 8 Inch Chipper

This model is nearly identical to the CH8993H, but it replaces the B&S motor with a fuel injected 720cc Subaru engine for easier cold starts and increased fuel efficiency.

CH911DH 9 Inch Chipper

What does it take to chop up 9 inch thick branches? This model does it by using a 15 inch diameter feed roller with 10 knife blades to push wood into a 30 inch diameter chipper disc that weighs 275 lbs. This disc is driven by a 1.1 liter Kubota diesel engine. With 18 gallons of fuel on board, refueling should be infrequent.

CH922DH 9 Inch Chipper

Do you need maximum performance? The CH922DH replaces the CH911DH’s motor with a 2.2 liter diesel engine, keeping the disc spinning no matter what you’re sliding into the feed chute.
